Potential Chocolate Moth Caterpillar - Acherdoa ferraria

Potential Chocolate Moth Caterpillar - Acherdoa ferraria
Pea Island NWR - South Pond, Dare County, North Carolina, USA
October 17, 2018
Size: ~25mm
Caterpillar is on a smilax. I originally posted this caterpillar on Caterpillar Identification of North America fb page. An Administrator identified it as Chocolate moth (Acherdoa ferraria). Others questioned her because there aren't a lot of photos of this cat and most others show a darker background. She posted one that she had spotted that looked identical and said that Sam Jaffe had identified it to this species. I looked him up and he is the founder of The Caterpillar Lab.

Guessing it is a later instar. Thanks for this addition to the guide.
