is this a Cat-faced Spider? - Araneus gemmoides
Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada
October 26, 2018
Size: 11 mm bdy 3.5 cm inc legs
one of the biggest Cat-faced Spiders I've ever seen, it's been prob 10-15 years since I've seen a lot of light brown / beige ones on the underhang of the fences in the yard in midsummer. This is the end of Oct and prob 14 degrees celcius and has been nice for days. This is the darkest I've seen one. All photos lightened for details except for "IMG_3722 orig". Spider is upside down in "IMG_3753". Found outside in moist dirt, I gave it a quick splash with room temp water and after the bath photographed it in a bowl, then let it go.
