Caenurgina - Caenurgina

Caenurgina - Caenurgina
Northern Bruce Peninsula , Ontario, Canada
July 30, 2018
I think this is Caenurgina erechtea (rather than crassiuscula) because AM/PM lines do not meet at the inner margin, but I am still not certain. Would really appreciate another view.

If I had to make an educated guess, I would say crassiuscula. I found the only real ID mark is the dark AM area not touching the inner margin. But the only way to be sure would be dissection or, on a male, an easier way is to brush the scales off the tip of the abdomen. A mitten shaped valvae would be crassiuscula, erechtea would show 2 curved sickle-like spines. Did you collect it?

Thank you
Thank you very much for the information. That is very good to know. Unfortunately I did not collect it so it’s true identity will remain a mystery. Kind regards, Paul.

Moved from ID Request.
