Invasive Scolytid, Banded elm bark beetle - Scolytus schevyrewi

Size: 3mm
This invasive species (native to Asia) emerged in fairly large numbers from logs of an elm tree I cut down in my yard. The tree was diagnosed with wetwood. So far, there are only a few scattered records of this species in North Dakota.
