Hesperorhipis albofasciatus - Hesperorhipis albofasciata

Hesperorhipis albofasciatus - Hesperorhipis albofasciata
Ash Mountain, Tulare County, California, USA
June 17, 1984
Size: ca. 3 mm
In keeping with the theme of fancy antennae, here's Hesperorhipis albofasciatus. Its not very big but is fantastic under a scope.

Hesperorhipis is identified by the pectinate antennae and abreviated elytra.

Spelling correction...
...page should be amended to Dennis' correct spelling of the specific epithet.

?
I've seen it spelled both ways - this is based on Bellamy's list and Catalog. Any idea why the alternative is used - gender of genus? It appears that Fall's original sp. was -us.

Oops...
...you are correct - I was looking at Fall's original spelling when he described the genus, but the gender of the genus is, in fact, feminine.

Moved
Moved from Metallic Wood Boring Beetles. Four similar looking species, all in California.
