Found, early morning, motionless on stucco wall of building adjacent to canyon.

Staphylinini ? Perhaps Philonthus or Quedius ?

Of the eleven described Quedius (Microsuarus) species, I've only found one that has been recorded from California: Q. laevigatus.
This species has reportedly been introduced into California, which is plausible, as it was found at the edge of urbanization.
