A prickly encounter

plant?
Awesome capture! What plant are these guys on?

Location
Euclea and larvae on metal fence near pecan trees. Thanks. Charles Baxter

interesting
I was wondering what would have brought the two of them together. I guess the moth hosted on the pecan? I've seen the delphinii adult only once and never the larva. And I still have never seen the larvae of v-nigrum, and the adult only twice ever.

Fence bugs
I see many lady bugs, larva, jumping spiders, stink bugs etc. crawling along our metal fence. A good place to photograph these creatures, the fence seems to be a convenient place for jumpers to hunt prey. The lady bud larva was interested in the Euclea perhaps as something to eat, a dangerous proposition considering the small insects I observed impaled on caterpillar’s spines. I have observed jumping spiders leaping from the metal fence back to the pecan tree trunk and continuing on their way. Charles Baxter

cool!
Maybe it's a warm spot. You've got some nice bugs there!

Ashy Gray Lady Beetle Larva
The head is partly light colored. You can review the family album here.
Looks like...
Olla v-nigrum: (widespread)

Lady bug larva
Thank you for the ID. Do lady bug larva attack or eat caterpillars? C. Baxter

.
.

Yes
Sometimes they do. Here is the breakdown, according to the info page for the sub-family:
- Coccinellini feed on insects and insect eggs, including aphids and other heteropterans, caterpillars, fly larvae, and scale insects. Some species supplement their diet with plant pollen.
- Halyziini feed on fungus, such as powdery mildew.

Lady Beetle larva
Don't know which one, though.
