They resemble Spartocera batatas...


...but the match isn't perfect. Please try to get pics of the adults, if possible.

Sorry these aren't mature. Other than the pinkish-red in molt, they were the only insects on this group of plants. They are listed as agricultural pests of tomatoes, so the host plant fits. Appreciate your help.

 
Possibly...
...but again, the nymphs are not an exact match--and S. batatas is also found on tomatoes.

Shots of the adults would clear up the mystery, if you're able to go back and get them.
