WSW of Kyle near Blanco River, Hays County, Texas, USA

Size: ~ 1.5 inches
Encountered on a Daylight Wildlife Count on the sloped portion of an oak/juniper wooded ravine that feeds into the Blanco River approximately .25 miles away. The wasp was on a branch tip of an Ashe juniper.

Male - Horntail
Note, he has flattened hind legs. = ♂
He might look better, if you re-crop the images a little closer.
