Likely Ceriana ancoralis? - Ceriana ancoralis - male

Likely Ceriana ancoralis? - Ceriana ancoralis - Male
Guadalupe Canyon, Cochise County, Arizona, USA
April 30, 1972
Note that the 2nd abdominal segment here is longer than (rather than "distinctly shorter than") the 3rd abdominal segment...which, together with the absence of any yellow on the pteropleuron, indicates C. ancoralis in Shannon's key. Per Curran's key, the uninterrupted yellow streak along the upper hind edge of the head (sometimes very narrowly-interrupted by a thin black medial line) is diagnostic for C. ancoralis.
