Malacosoma tigris

Malacosoma tigris
1.3 Miles NW of Camp Wood, Edwards County, Texas, USA
April 27, 2018
A first for Texas. Although the adult did not eclose properly, I think you can still recognize the adult. I sent it to BOLD and it was identified as Malacosoma tigris. It can be seen at TXLEP586-18 in the public database when they finish processing it.

Hah! You made us figure out the cat
when you knew all along! :)

.
Dave Wagner suspicioned the cat's ID,but said it was darker than any he had seen. Also did not like the looks of the pupa. I did not know for sure until BOLD gave me the ID.
