Possible Scolia nobilitata
Moved from ID Request by Ken Wolgemuth, who offered no comment, nor confirm my tentative ID. Ken, can you confirm? The abdomen patterns and colors are close, but the pattern itself varies from other S. nobilitatas imaged on the site and from another wasp ID'd as such.

Please look at the string of terms above your photo...
That will tell you where in the Guide the pic is located. It has been moved to Eumeninae (Potter and Mason Wasps). Dr. Buck or one of the other experts will take the ID further.

Possible Scolia nobilitata
Ken, to me, that submission looks more like the Pachodynerus erynnis you ID'd for me a while back, than any of those Eumeninae illustrated at that location. The abdominal patterns are entirely different. Maybe pattern doesn't matter, but I'd like to request a second opinion. BTW, I may have missed Genus/species on that page; I'll look again.

Your photo is on the subfamily page...
...along with other mason and potter wasps that have not yet been given genus/species IDs. It could very will be P. erynnis, but you'll need to wait for the experts to have a look. It will eventually be moved to a genus or species page.

Thanks for your patience, Ken. BTW, I have a few other shots of that same wasp, but thought the submitted image "looked" better. I'll review those other shots tonight -- y'all are welcome to them if you'll tell me how to submit.

If you look under your photo...
...you'll see an "add image" link. Click on that link and upload the next shot. It will automatically be linked to the first one. Repeat as needed--just be sure that all of the photos depict the same specimen.

Sorry, Ken. It seems I deleted the other images of this particular wasp. I did try to add other, similar, images shot on different days, as we are having an invasion of these critters. But they did not link to the original in any case. I'll try to look for those and delete them.... PS: One image was of the previously ID'd S.nobilitata.

They did link to the original...
...but they depicted different individuals of a different family. I unlinked them and moved them to Scoliidae.

Possible Scolia nobilitata
So, at least those were Scoliidae. Sorry about that. It's 1920 h here, and I've been 'thick' all day.I need a good night's sleep. I'll cut out the bellyaches and wait for your guys to ID the submitted bug. Muchas Gracias.... ~jess
