Unknown aquatic larvae - Hydrochara
Croton-on-Hudson, Westchester County, New York, USA
Size: 1mm
Found in some pond water, similar habitat and size to a daphnia. I believed that photo was taken very recently (today is Nov 19, 2018).

Hydrophilidae: Hydrochara

Hydrochara larva
I think I took this picture around 2013, through a dissecting microscope. As I recall the larva's head, shown here, was around a millimeter across. Thanks for identifying it. I found it in bottle of water taken from a pond near Croton-on-Hudson, NY.

thank you so much!
Especially with an image showing only a head!

It's a rather distinctive head ...
and the characters necessary for generic placement were quite visible!
