Long-horned Beetle - Prionus californicus
Ogden, Weber County, Utah, USA
August 28, 2011
Size: Approximately 5cm long
I live at 5000 ft on a steep, dry scrub mountainside; gambel's oak, big-toothed maple, some sagebrush. This beetle came in to my computer room because I leave the door open for the cat. The yard outside has some planted spruce trees, but nearby is the edge of the disturbed area and beyond that is typical Great Basin mountainside.
