Carpenter Ants (Camponotus, subgenus Colobopsis) - workers
These small Carpenter Ants are called "Gate-keeper Ants" by the Germans: major workers - and dealated queen foundresses too - use their cork-shaped head to stop the nest galleries entries. One of these special major workers (or, improperly, so-called "soldier") can be seen center left.

Question
Are these the same ants shown here

which you said are "Definitely subgenus Myrmentoma ... The same species as the ones you submitted previously"?

Gate-keeper Ants
Is the term "Gate-keeper Ants" just another "common name"? Does it apply to only subgenus Colobopsis or to the entire genus Camponotus?

I could be wrong...
but it looks to me like he's saying that the name doesn't even apply to all of the species, but to a caste, like "queen" or "worker". Only some species would have individuals with this specialization, but I doubt the name would be directly attached to any taxonomic grouping.
