What appears to be two Great Spreadwings (Archilestes grandis) were found mating in the Native Plant Garden section of the New York Botanical Garden. Photo taken on September 27th of 2017 while leading a field trip for the NYBG Urban Naturalist class. Note that this species has not been previously recorded on BugGuide during the month of September in New York State.

A. grandis
Odonata Central only has four observations from NY. Of the three for which there are dates, one is in Sept, one in Oct, the other one in the end of July, nice find.
