Mite eating a thrips

Mite eating a thrips
Anza Borrego Desert, San Diego County, California, USA
December 22, 2018
Size: about 1 mm
Spider mite? Taken with a usb microscope. I found the mite next to a stream. Found the thrips later on a sunflower. I happened to place both of them on a sheet of paper and the mite immediately snatched up the thrips.
