Wide-footed Treehopper - Enchenopa latipes Brookfield, Cook County, Illinois, USA July 3, 2018
I originally called these two-marked treehoppers (Enchenopa binotata) until it was pointed out to me that their two spots should be visible as soon as the adults emerge. I also haven't seen any nymphs shaped like the recently vacated exuvia in these images. I don't recall what plant this was and am not able to ID it from the photos. Of many Enchenopa treehoppers I've seen in my yard, on a variety of plants, these two individuals are the only ones that did not have the dorsal spots. This is the only exuvia I've seen. I wish I'd kept it. When I moved the stem to get a better angle, one of the treehoppers jumped to my wrist, so in one photo those are the hairs of my arm.
