The cocoons (7 of them!) are formed outside the mines, so not Cameraria... might be Phyllonorycter aberrans, or something undescribed.

I'm wondering if it might be a species of Chrysaster... I just sent Don Davis an email asking for his thoughts (but I'm not sure if he has access to his email during the government shutdown, so it may be a while before I get a response).

There are no published records
of any gracillariids from Canavalia (except for this Asian species related to Acrocercops).
