It is just...
that every insect I get a picture of, I click the DATA tab to see if BugGuide has had any contributor from Louisiana send in a picture. Most of the insect pictures I have submitted have been the first images BugGuide has received from Louisiana.

There are several LA contributors
some of whom contribute lots of extremely high-quality images. They tend to specialize, though- so your randomly-selected subjects are filling in the gaps very nicely.
