The answer to "Xanthippus ??" is yes and no
This species was traditionally considered to be in Xanthippus until Daniel Otte moved it to Cratypedes in his book in the early '80's. I consider it to be more properly part of Xanthippus, but most listings now have it in Cratypedes. The other Cratypedes species - C. neglectus - is closer in character to Agymnastus. However, they are ALL very closely related.

This is a very late date for this species. It is seen as adult mostly from March until June (depending upon elevation and location).

Moved from Band-winged Grasshoppers.
