Cephalonomia sp. - Cephalonomia - female

Cephalonomia sp. - Cephalonomia - Female
Ivanhoe, Tulare County, California, USA
March 23, 1984
Size: 1.5 mm.
These tiny bethylids are parasitoids of some insect that infests old cynipid galls on Valley Oaks. I suspect they're utilizing the anobiids that feed on the starchy insides of the large galls.
