100 Acre Wood, Winneshiek County, Iowa, USA
May 3, 2018
May 3, 2018: collected eggs in the live BL trap
May 7, 2018: larvae emerged movie
May 8, 2018: gave various woody and herbaceous leaves but there was no feeding so released the tiny larvae
Dead end, nothing was learned.
What I learned later.
1. Sometimes 1st instars take a while to eat. Sometimes what they first eat is not what they later prefer to eat.
2. With rearing comes the risk of death of the larvae, a few or a lot. But without rearing I learn nothing.
