Noctuidae, Norman's Quaker, eggs - Crocigrapha normani

Noctuidae, Norman's Quaker, eggs - Crocigrapha normani
100 Acre Wood, Winneshiek County, Iowa, USA
May 21, 2018
May 18, 2018: collected eggs in the live BL trap. Eggs were greenish, no patterning of larvae showing through, but I was too slow to take photos
May 21, 2018: eggs showing larvae
May 25, 2018: larvae emerged, gave a smorgasbord of plants: elm, ash, oak, walnut, aster, goldenrod, apple, maple, seem to be eating quite a few
Yes Elm, Yes Raspberry, Yes Oak, Yes Walnut, not Goldenrod, not Maple
Learned that it was often easier to see frass than the tiny early instar larvae
May 29, 2018: put some larvae into a new jar with fresh plants, rest were set free in the woods
June 11, 2018: must not have set enough free as counted 43, more released
June 17, 2018: more released
