Thanks
for the identification. In doing some reading, I learned that Nylanderia bourbonica is a relatively large blackish species. The specimen I photographed doesn't seem to fit that description. This one is brown. Also, the hairs on the pronotum and mesonotum appear to me to be tapering, rather than blunt as in bourbonica. Could it possibly be N. pubens or N. fulva? Or, could it be Nylanderia steinheili? It appears to have white coxae. Please don't think I'm questioning your ID. You are the expert. I'm just trying to learn.

I just read your explanation about drying the specimen before photographing. That could be why it doesn't appear to be black.
