Unknown Tiny Buprestid -
Anthaxia prasina
11 mi. N. of Madras, Jeffereson County, Oregon, USA
June 2, 2003
Size: 5 mm
Could this be an Anthaxia? I am uncertain as to the ID, if you can give a name for the guide, that would be great.

Looks like...
...Anthaxia prasina. This species belongs to a difficult group of species (subgenus Melanthaxia) that is currently being revised by Svatopluk Bily (National Museum, Prague). Most of the species are blackish or bronze, but this one is distinctive due to its brilliant green to blue-green dorsal coloration.

Nice ID
Thanks for the ID. I would never have been able to have the resources to ID this insect without first seeing one on BG and then only a 50-50 guess. Can you create a new page for this new species to BG?
