Retinia ?
I added two new cropped photos as asked, and when I deleted the larger photo it took all of the comments with it. I don't know if there's a way to get that page back or not. So sorry.

Edit
Next time, just edit the original post rather than add a new one.

Editing
I'm not sure how to crop a photo that's already been uploaded to Bugguide or I would have done that. It would have been much easier, had I known how.

Possibly Retinia pallipennis
I wondered what happened to the old image. Yes just hit the "edit" button just above "Contributed by..." and in the new editing window scroll down to choose file to select the new cropped file on you computer.

Just to add some of my previous comments, Micahael Sabourin believes this is something in Retinia, possibly pallipennis, but can't rule out a morph of comstockiana or other similar species in the genus.

Thanks for cropping. It's much easier to spot when browsing the thumbnails. If you don't know already, you can add images at higher resolution when detail is needed. Regular contributor cannot access those images but editors can.

Thank you
Thank you for the tips Steve. I'll try that next time.
