Size: 2.5 mm
White Light trap, 560 lumens, in sagebrush habitat.

Posted to extend BugGuide map range into NV for Cercyon and possibly get species ID. Species C. quisquilius looks like this specimen, but I have no key to verify this.

Following characters important in Arnett Beetles Vol 1 (1).
Head
-Head narrowed in front of eyes.
-Antennae longer than maxillary palpi.
-Eyes not divided.
Thorax
-Elytral epipleura reduced in width going posteriorly to nothing next to abdomen.
-Prosternum with antennal groove not reaching the lateral prothoracic margin. (For contrast WITH ANOTHER SP, here is an example where the antennal groove is larger and does reach the margin.)
-Mesosternal tablet(or ridge between meso-coxae) elongate-oval.
-Metasternum without any ridge.
-Scutellum elongate triangular.
Abdomen
-1st abdominal segment longer than second.
Legs
-Basal tarsomere of mid and hind tarsi longer than 2nd segment.
