Perilampidae, dorsal - Steffanolampus salicetum - Female
100 Acre Wood, Winneshiek County, Iowa, USA
June 29, 2018
on one of the 2 dead, but full of life, trees in the back woods

Thank you Jeong & Charley for the genus ID and info page for the wasp.
These beetles are in the vicinity.

Probably can't just assume the wasp is Steffanolampus salicetum?

Moved from Steffanolampus.

I don't know if the identification to genus is correct but am moving this to species because the genus is monotypic.

With parasitoids,
it often is not safe to assume that the number of described species is equal to the number of extant (or even of known) species. I assumed that there was a reason the ID was given as "Steffanolampus sp."; hopefully Jeong will comment.

Moved from Chalcid Wasps.

This definitely belongs ...
... in the Chalcidoidea. At first I thought it could be a Eurytomidae, but the wing venation is almost assuredly that of a Perilampidae (but I can't completely rule out Pteromalidae either). I can't see the metasoma clearly enough, but it sort of has the look of a perilampid. Probably safer just to leave it in the Chalcidoidea for now.

I checked.
None of the other photos show more.
Normally I don't collect wasps, just inadvertently rear them but on occasion they are so good looking that I do collect. However, in 2018 I tried more live photography so that they could be released hence no specimen for needed photos.
Thank you for the ID, (better than parasitica), and all your other ID's.

Steffanolampus
It is Steffanolampus sp., Perilampidae.
