Globular Springtail - Ptenothrix

Globular Springtail - Ptenothrix
Eugene, Lane County, Oregon, USA
January 25, 2019
Size: 2.2mm
I pulled a large piece of bark off the ground and turned it over. There were dozens of globular springtails on it. A few different types, and of many different sizes.

Moved

Ptenothrix sp.3 f.3
Split patch, but lateral pigmentation fused with split part of patch.
Was called before sp.5

Ptenothrix sp.3 f.1
A more common form with split posterior dorsal patch.

I'm no expert, but...
As I was going to move it to species 3, I saw this in species 5 that I thought looked extremely similar.

There may easily be something I'm not taking into account, but from just a pattern standpoint, I think it matches just as well. Especially with the "anchor" pattern near the rear.

Good to point this out!
My mistake : it should be sp.3 f.3
sp.5 was renamed to sp.3 f.3

Just so I'm clear...
This image, and all of the images currently under sp. 5 should be moved to sp. 3?

Quite correct, Ken.
Sorry for the inconvenience...

No problem :)
There were only five images affected.
