Naked Globular Springtail - Ptenothrix

Naked Globular Springtail - Ptenothrix
Eugene, Lane County, Oregon, USA
January 25, 2019
Size: 2mm
I pulled a large piece of bark off the ground and turned it over. There were dozens of globular springtails on it. A few different types, and of many different sizes.

This one didn't have any pattern on its back.

Ptenothrix sp.3
This specimen is the palest form I have seen so far.
The basic pattern of sp.3 = a skull : note eyeholes, nosehole and teeth ;-)
