Millipede with large gonopods - Ochrogramma bentona - male

Millipede with large gonopods - Ochrogramma bentona - Male
Eugene, Lane County, Oregon, USA
January 25, 2019
Size: 23mm
Found under leaf litter on an old log at the park. I believe those are gonopods, and not ticks, or something else like that.

It has a light stripe going down the entire backside.

This is a really strange mill
This is a really strange millipede, interesting find! My best guess is something in the family Caseyidae, did you happen to collect the specimen? If you can send me an adult male (like this one), I may be able to identify it.

specimen
I didn't collect this one for longer than a few hours before I released it, but I've been out the past few days and seen at least two more just like it. They're always inside of larger pieces of rotting wood, which I've started rooting through lately, but it may take a little bit to get another adult male.

Are males always the best for identification? If I do find one, I'll email you for further processing instructions.

Yep, males are best for ident
Yep, males are best for identification, since many of the characters are based on the male gonopods. That's good you've been seeing more out! Please do email me if you're able to collect one.

I submitted them to the wrong place
