moth - Palpita
Lake Meyer Park, Winneshiek County, Iowa, USA
May 8, 2018
Size: 17 mm
I found some moths that looked similar in the Crambid Snout Moth family. Specifically, there were two moth species in the Palpita genus that looked like possible candidates, though neither one appeared to be a bullet-proof match. Palpita aenescentalis had the closest color markings, but I noticed it has not been reported to Bugguide from Iowa, though P. magniferalis has.
