icheumon wasp - Odontocolon

icheumon wasp - Odontocolon
Lake Meyer Park, Winneshiek County, Iowa, USA
May 23, 2018
Size: 10 mm
If anything, this ichneumon wasp is remarkable for its lack of striking field marks. I'm not versed enough in ichneumon wasp ID to even try and take it to subfamily without some very distinctive markings to aid me.

Thanks for moving this ichneumon wasp to the genus Odontocolon, Ken!

Odontocolon (male)…
Yeah, well, in your defense, you did kind of mention one of the distinguishing features.

See reference here.

Wow, thanks so much for figuring out the genus for this ichneumon wasp, Ross! I would never had dug deep enough to determine that the teeth on its hind femora were a key ID feature. I was lucky to get that one photo that showed them so clearly.
