American Bumble Bee -
Bombus pensylvanicus
Columbia Audubon Nature Sanctuary, Boone County, Missouri, USA
August 29, 2017
This doesn't look like other Carpenter Bees I've seen. This one has yellow and black abdomen. Can it be identified?
Thanks!

bumblebee
This is a bumblebee, either
Bombus pensylvanicus
or
auricomus
, difficult to tell from this angle. If you have any other photos of the bee, which shows the abdomen better, that would help, as well as cropping your picture to show just the insect, so we can see more detail.

Thanks Molly!
Sorry I don't have other views, however I will add a closer crop.

thanks
So, my guess would be
B. pensylvanicus
. Its scutellum has only black hair, and its face appears to as well, which suggests this species over
auricomus
. But wait for an expert confirmation.
