Mystery Crescent - Anthanassa tulcis

Mystery Crescent - Anthanassa tulcis
McAllen, Hidalgo County, Texas, USA
February 3, 2019
Size: 1.25" (estimated)
Nectaring on Velvet Lantana among typical Pale-banded Crescents. Has characteristics of Pale-banded, Texan, Chestnut (f), and Black, but does not seem to fit all the criteria for any of these.

Lack of PM line of Crescents
Lack of PM line of Crescents and “rusty” wing corners had me questioning tulcis ID.

The lack of a small PM line was my main concern too on ID
but all the other markings indicate, location, other Pale crescents in area, and some "Butterflies of America" examples with out or little hindwing PM band. Otherwise a hybrid between black and Pale Crescents which is doubtful since Black crescent is considered rare in south Texas.
None of the other Anthanassa crescents of Mexico are similar to this specimen.
