Identification
areolet noun - This is a name for a very small wing cell, that may be seen in the wings of some Wasps, mostly found in the Ichneumon Wasp family, Ichneumonidae.

It is located near the center of the widest part of the wing. (see examples above)
Remarks
Sometimes this cell may be termed "open" or "closed", depending on the connection of the veins that constitute each of the sides of an areolet. Most species have the areolet closed, but some species always have one or more sides missing. (without a connecting vein)
