Chlaenius pennsylvanicus blanditus Casey 1920 - Chlaenius pennsylvanicus - female

Chlaenius pennsylvanicus blanditus Casey 1920 - Chlaenius pennsylvanicus - Female
Utah Lake, se shore, 4,495' elevation , Utah County, Utah, USA
June 18, 2017
Size: ~10.6 mm
Supposedly this western subspecies is shorter and broader than the eastern subspecies pennsylvanicus. I do not have eastern representatives to compare to. However, this specimen is from the east side of Utah Lake, and the type locality is also on the east side of Utah Lake, but further north at the city of Vineyard.

This species, along with Chlaenius sericeus, are the two most abundant species of Chlaenius along the margins of Utah Lake.
