Lytta nuttalli

Lytta nuttalli
Greeley County, Kansas, USA
July 20, 1990
Size: 24mm
I don't know much about the collection of this specimen except that it was collected by a kid that was in the entomology project in 4-H. this individual and a handful of other species were given to me by a friend who didn't mention the name of the collector.

Kansas out of official range
... of the whole subgenus.
However, we have a second suspect.
Both DO look like L. nutalli.
Should be verified if "wrong location" is a possibility.

The KC specimen in interesting
I honestly don't know if the location on mine is correct, I never personally met the collector. Interestingly, there was also a Monochamus scutellatus (or at least part of one) in the same collection, so it's possible that the collector went on vacation in the Rocky Mountains and mislabeled some specimens. However, Western KS is a very diverse and (in my opinion) understudied area, so I think it's possible that L. nuttalli may occur there and go undetected.
