ichneumon wasp - Anomalon - female

ichneumon wasp - Anomalon - Female
Cardinal Marsh, Winneshiek County, Iowa, USA
July 6, 2018
Size: 12 mm
From the coloration, antennae size, and length of her ovipositor, I found a likely match for this female in the genus Anomalon, but I'm just looking at the most obvious clues.

Let's be careful against overconfident identifications. Of all the Anomalon in the northeast that Bob Carlson looked at, he only positively identified one as A. ejuncidum. Positive keying also requires traits that aren't visible from here.

That's fantastic news, Ross! Thanks for taking this ichneumon wasp down to species! I wasn't even sure the photos showed enough details on the wasp to get it to genus.
