Interesting, we have gotten several
of these recently from California, see
. The pattern of white on the front of the abdomen is unusual and it has the same raised projections on the abdomen unlike the usually rounded diadematus. Wonder if Jeff will know it from his work in California.

This is probably an adult cross spider, Araneus diadematus.
