Sporty Little Aphid - Takecallis arundinariae

Sporty Little Aphid - Takecallis arundinariae
Norfolk, Virginia, USA
January 1, 2008
Size: 2mm (body length)
The only winged aphid seen that day.

Moved
Moved from Aphids.
Another one for your introduced species list, Beatriz.

Host plant?
Do you have any idea about the host plant? It is very important for aphids ID.

Yes
I found similar flightless aphids on the undersides of Bamboo leaves nearby which I have images of. This one was on a bamboo leaf as well, but no other aphids were present.

Bamboo aphid
If you google it you may find some information on this aphid.
Is this a house plant? If so you should remove the date and mention it only in the text. Remember that you specify the date of wild specimens only according to the instructions. Otherwise it looks like aphids are around at a time that they are not.
It is the same with butterfly houses, insects raised indoors, etc.

Not a house plant......
Bamboo thicket near a water reservoir. The temps were near 60 degrees (F) that day which was unseasonably warm.

Thanks for the info, I'll look it up tonight.
