Estigmene albida - Estigmene acrea - female

Estigmene albida - Estigmene acrea - Female
Killeen, Bell County, Texas, USA
February 5, 2019
Size: 1in
I found her on the outside brick wall of my school one morning and marveled at her, but I decided to leave her there because I didn’t want her to fly away. After school I had a hunch that she’d still be there, and she was! I grabbed her but she didn’t fly away so I assumed her life was about over. I decided to take her home and spoil her with some sugar water before putting her back outside on that stick to let her pass in peace when she started laying eggs on it! It took her a whole 4 hours to lay what I believe to be roughly 1200-1500 eggs.
