I tried unsuccessfully to find this new introduced species (first documented in
(1)) once during summer 2018. This February my dad was heading down to Ft. Lauderdale on business, so I told him to look for this mantid if he had the time. After wandering around at Long Key for a while, he discovered that waving a hand over the wooden railings at the preserve would cause the nymphs, previously so well camouflaged as to be undetectable, to skitter away and reveal themselves.
