Diaperis rufipes

A number of these beetles are living within a large fungal growth on the trunk of a decaying cottonwood tree. Identification of this beetle as 'Diaperis rufipes' (a type of darkling beetle) is confirmed through the community on iNaturalist. Posting it here to seek confirmation and verify its presence in California.
