Dear Marcia,

I am confused that these unidentified moths were placed in Lepidoptera rather than Noctuidae or even Noctuoidea.

Thanks for your help, Pam

Moving images
Hi Pam,

Marcia moved your images and many others in the last week from ID Request to Lepidoptera to rescue them from being buried beneath the many other unidentified images there. I've moved them along to Noctuidae. There are too many images added to BugGuide every day for editors to immediately identify them all. Even images of more easily identified species can go unnoticed for a time. In your case, you may have to wait a while for these to be identified. None of the more active editors is especially familiar with western Noctuidae, so they tend to pile up until someone spends a few days working through the backlog. I'm generally unfamiliar with them, so other than one effort in December 2017, I've mostly not touched the Noctuidae page. Your images will eventually get to the right place, but many images that are difficult to identify will languish for a few years or more at a higher taxon page.

Western moths
Your explanation has truly helped me to more thoroughly understand the process. I know that in a lot of areas of the west, the moths are not well understood, so I feel that I can make a small contribution to the scientific data bases by getting these posted.

The enormity of your tasks boggles the mind. The Norwegians say, "tusen takk", a thousand thanks, Pam
