fly with orange tints

fly with orange tints
Lake Meyer Park, Winneshiek County, Iowa, USA
May 18, 2018
Size: ~5 mm
This fly looked quite orange from a distance as it got nectar or pollen from a wild geranium flower out in the forest. It falls into that confusing group of "common" looking flies for me yet, so I can't guess on where it might belong.

Siphonini
Thanks for narrowing this fly down to the Siphonini tribe, John! It's stance and shape at rest had reminded me of a couple flies I've found in the Leskiini tribe, and now I know why.
