Identification
Abdomen with dark median stripe which expands on posterior part of each tergite, occasionally abdomen entirely dark; male, apex of cercus with sparse, fine setae.
Food
The larva is a stem borer of many grasses, Poaceae.
Remarks
Non-native, introduced from Europe in the 20th century. Its range is increasing.
