masked bee male - Hylaeus

masked bee male - Hylaeus
Ludwig Prairie Preserve, Winneshiek County, Iowa, USA
May 31, 2018
Size: ~7 mm
It is probably wishful thinking on my part, but this masked bee male seems like it might be H. affinis. The broad rounded yellow bands toward the top of its face are one thing, and maybe it's my imagination, but it appears the underside of its antennae scapes are yellow too, though that may be just an optical illusion.
