Synonyms and other taxonomic changes
The name E. whitfordiodendrus (Schedl 1942) was synonymized with E. fornicatus by Wood (1989) (1) and was resurrected by Gomez et al. (2018) (2). Following the rediscovery of the E. fornicatus syntype(3), E. whitfordiodendrus was re-synonymized with E. fornicatus.

Identification
virtually indistinguishable from others in the "fornicatus" clade, however...
if the "E. fornicatus" you have are from San Diego or Tijuana River they are E. kuroshio, and the ones from the Los Angeles area are E. fornicatus. Those in FL and HI are E. perbrevis. -Pers. Comm. R.J. Rabaglia, 2019
